No idea if it’s active yet, but along with other beacons, I’ll be listening for the 10-meter downlink from MARMOTSat.

From what i currently know MARMOTSat is only active on UHF when it has a decent line of sight to Victoria BC Canada and even then from what I have recived the signal isn’t very strong.
Medium elevation pass over the U.S. East Coast tonight… not QUITE enough elevation to get clean decodes from FossaSat-2E26 yet. A little more elevation and I should be ok.
… I was also monitoring the MARMOTSat downlink on 29.41 but nothing seen. No idea if it’s active yet.
As for Marina, I did my best to get it to hear me on 145.925 9k6 packet uplink, but no luck. I did get -2- decodes FROM it though & one was error-free, so my iGate uploaded it to APRS-IS!
Hi all, MARMOTSat ops lead here. We made contact on the first pass over our ground station, approx 01:40 PT (~35 minutes after deployment) and have had two more successful passes since then. So far everything on board appears to be healthy.
As @crispywaffle42 said, the UHF is only active when we have line of sight to our ground station (48.4612, -123.31). The VHF and HF are not active at this time, and won’t be for quite a while. I would estimate at least a few weeks before we transmit anything on VHF, and a few months for the HF. Keep an eye on https://www.marmotsat.ca/ and https://www.propagationlab.ca/satellite/, we will post any updates to the payload schedule there!

Hi Fredy! Just a heads up, I heard from the team that during this init period (until it gets commands from the ground) it’s actually transmitting at 402.0000 MHz instead of 401.0250 MHz. I believe they’re making the DB change request, but I wanted to ping you in case it was faster/easier for you to make the change. No worries if it’s a pain, they should be making the DB request tomorrow either way.

Thanks for the update, I’ve created a new transmitter as it seems to be another transmission status.
I’m going to schedule a couple of extra observations for this frequency, let’s see!

There different stages in a satellite mission, the first one is commissioning, a stage that operators try to establish contact and verify the good status of the satellite. This can take from a couple of days to some months or never(in worst case scenario).
During this stage usually most of not crucial subsystems are off or in a “sleep” mode. As the operations move forward these subsystems are turned on and tested that work also as expected.
So, I guess this is why VHF and HF are not yet active but if everything is well eventually we will have some updates!

I’m doing one more separate post to describe how scheduling is going to proceed.
My tactic is to schedule for the next 48h, ~every two days. I use this tactic in order to leave station owners to have a window to schedule whatever they want on their station without having to remove my scheduled observations.
Also I’m trying to keep a balance on sharing the stations observation time as fairly as possible.
To satellite teams, don’t worry there will be more scheduled observations for your satellites for at least a couple of weeks.

Unfortunately we have few successful MARMOTSat observations as its transmission is limited over satellite’s ground station which wasn’t know during initial scheduling. Thus we don’t have for now any TLE update.
Maverick hasn’t been received yet, will also keep the initial TLE for 1-2 more days and then we may use an update one from another satellite.
