Transporter-13 Rideshare : VSFB SLC-4E : 15 March 2025 (06:39 UTC)

Thanks for the information, the yaml is updated as is the output shared.

Now we only need an active satellite over Europe.

In the continuing search for HERMES-H1/H2, I had a very low pass over the Eastern U.S. this morning (27-Mar) but nothing seen from H2.

When the tracking indicated that H1 should have been overhead, signals appeared with almost a perfect match to the expected doppler:

… however, much to my disappointment they did not decode. Taking a closer look in Inspectrum, the appearance of these packets was different from the confirmed H2 packets observed yesterday. Instead of a 2-packet burst, these signals were one longer transmission. Additionally, the best estimate for a baud rate in inspectrum was something in the area of 19k9. So, likely from a different satellite. Will keep looking!

Hi Scott,

To give you an idea of all the satellites using 401.500 MHz, this obs is made during a perfect overhead pass.

TLE observation:

Multiple wide signals being received, but no unidentified.

I will also keep looking for HERMES

Thanks @K4KDR and @PE0SAT for your precious contributions!

Taking a closer look in Inspectrum, the appearance of these packets was different from the confirmed H2 packets observed yesterday.

I confirm that the appearance seems not compatible with the HERMES beacon. We transmit a PRN noise for something like 200-300 ms then the telemetry data is modulated. This is quite clear from yesterday signal.

In the latest Network’s observations I see a lot of signals from YAM-5 satellite at that frequency, so it could be it.

Hello @K4KDR, thank you again for your precious help!

We are still trying to contact our H1 and H2, hoping to tell you more in the next hours! Can we kindly ask you if it is possible for you to retrive the exact UTC time when the first H2 beacon arrived?

Thank you so much for the help!

Good afternoon,

Last night 27-03-2025 22:35:00 UTC I had a perfect overhead pass and recorded the whole 15 minutes.

I am very sorry to say but there where no signals received that could be an indication of H1 or H2.

Start:

End:

Frequency range monitored was 401.35e6 - 401.65e6

There was a signal close to 401.5e6, but that doesn’t seems to be wide enough

I have if you want a PCM 16 IQ recording from this pass.

Hi !
'will try these new TLE this evening !
I’m seeking H1 and H2 for a few days, but without success so far…

To be honest, our stations with directional antennas are not the most suitable for this type of search (especially when the band is so crowded).
This is probably why K4KDR, which I guess uses an omnidirectional antenna, has been more successful.

I made a gnuradio graph that allowed me to demodulate the K4KDR recording signals very easily. So I hope to be ready to identify your birds properly!

I made a TLE file that lists the satellites that use the same frequency as you.

I can’t upload it, as i’m a new user, but feel free to ask by DM.

Updated TLE for M-SEL/CORTEZ:

M-SEL/CORTEZ

The stronger of the two downlinks… the one that decoded the 2 frames provided previously, was at 0400utc on 26-Mar. (the timestamp in the screen shot below is a 4-hour offset as that computer was set to Eastern Daylight Time)

… also visible in the waterfall is a weaker downlink about 30 seconds (estimate) before the one that decoded.
