Great idea, Jan - thanks!

First one I found was: [EDIT: since I found quite a few, Iā€™ll see if I can consolidate all of them into one post over the next few minutesā€¦]

SONATE-2 (via Exolaunch) on 145.900, 436.500, & 2266 MHz (from ITU search)
IRIS-F1 (via Exolaunch) on 2280 & 400.915 MHz (from ITU search)
CroCube on 145.000 & 436.5 MHz (from ITU search)
[** wide span suggests these may not be the exact freqs, but just a ā€˜roundā€™ value used when filed]
Quantum Sentry on 401.075 MHz (from ITU search)
CUAVA-2 (via Momentus Vigoride 7) on 2259 & 400.65 MHz (from ITU search)
Djibouti-1B (via Momentus Vigoride 7) on 401.8 MHz (from ITU search)
[** same freq as the currently very successful Djibouti-1A]
GAINDESAT-1 (via Momentus Vigoride 7) on 401.8 MHz (from ITU search)
SOWA-1 (via Momentus Vigoride 7) on 2265.5 & 401.1 MHz (from ITU search)
TROOP-F2 (via Momentus Vigoride 7) on 916 & 1622.38 MHz (from ITU search)

Another participant in the Transporter-10 launch has reached out, so I have -4- additional objects.

PY4-1, PY4-2, PY4-3, & PY4-4 will be direct releases from the launch vehicle with the primary downlink being 62.5k LoRa on 915.6 MHz.

ITU also lists freqs of 1621.25 & 2402 MHz for this project. I believe that the 2402 MHz radio is primarily to be used for sat-to-sat comms between the 4 objects.

If anyone would like to contribute decodes to this project (since SatNogs stations historically arenā€™t setup for LoRa), check out GitHub - maholli/PY4_gs and/or https://tinygs.com/

Thanks, Scott!

As for the other frequencies listed on ITU:

  • 2402 MHz - youā€™re correct, this is sat-to-sat coms (with round trip time-of-flight ranging, cool!)
  • 1621.25 MHz - iridium modem

Iā€™ve recently tried to observe LoRa-sats, but even though I get a strong signal, decoding always failed. Is there something missing? For receiving and demodulating LoRa signals Iā€™m using that cheap LoRa boards in the tinyGS-network, that work excellent and areā€™nt expensive. But unfortunately, from the basic concept I cannot imagine a way to integrate them in some way into the satnogs environment. These are two completely different worlds.

Hello! Thanks to the SIDS upload capability of the SatNogs DB, you can actually submit decodes from any number of different platforms.

While Iā€™m currently investigating a glitch (perhaps an Arduino library update?), some time ago I worked out the syntax to upload LoRa decodes from Arduino devices - please see:

ā€¦ and thanks to the kind help available from the SatNogs folks, Iā€™m sure that Iā€™ll find why that stopped working for me.

Another option that Iā€™ve not tested is the SDRAngel software (https://www.sdrangel.org/). Max, the Project Lead for the upcoming PY4 sats, has found that the ā€˜Chirp Chat demodā€™ plug-in for SDRAngel works very well for LoRa signals. In that case, ANY SDR hardware could now be used to decode LoRa packets. Iā€™m trying to make time to test that out.

So, the bottom line is that once the hex byte decode of a LoRa packet is in-hand, itā€™s just a matter of uploading them to the SatNogs DB using one of the existing tools (GNU Radio or a Windows uploader) or with your own code that puts the frame into the format for a SIDS upload (as I did for the Arduino platform in that thread above).

Hello, thanks a lot for your quick response! Thatā€™s interesting information. I will check the SIDS interface and try get things working.
I have an advanced hardware here, the only tracked yagi for 868MHz in the tinyGS network, able to decode even the 20dBm lora pocketqube and I would be happy if I would be able to contribute lora data also to the satnogs network. At the moment I am only using TTGO-lora boards for this purpose. I know the SDR-Angel-Chirp plugin, because i use it for debugging and finding issues with my lora boards. unfortunately itā€™s not working for all lora-settings, somewhere there is a bug in the CRC-calculation. Basically a hardware-modem would provide a far higher sensitivity than a software-solution (iā€™ve pushed the sensitivity of my receivers to somewhere about -165dB), so Iā€™ll try to find a solution to create a bridge from this hardware to satnogs. But for now iā€™ts most important to get my 915MHz station finished - I want to be one of the first to catch signals from the PY4s  .
Pls let me know, when you have news about the Lora topic.

73, Stefan/OE6ISP

Ok, my SIDS upload (from the Arduino platform) issue has been resolved:

ā€¦ not surprisingly, it was a simple case of not having the latest version of EVERYTHING - not only the main libraries that are utilized in your code but also any firmware updates for your hardware!

Thanks! Thatā€™s exactly what I was looking for. I am not sure which is the best LoRa module to use with the R4 - which one would you recommend? ā€¦ and there is an additional option, to get that software running on one of my TTGO T-BEAMs. But I am not sure about the effort necessary, but itā€™s worth checking. 73
EDIT: just found your video on YT. Is it this software you used on the TTGO?

Please drop me an email at

scott23192@gmail.com

ā€¦ to not fill up the Transporter-10 thread here on a side topic.

Thanks!

-Scott

Hello,
a short update on the SONATE-2 mission. The launch is currently scheduled for 22:05 UTC. The separation of SONATE-2 is planned at 23:00 UTC.
Approx. 6 min after separation a beacon transmitting the satelliteā€™s callsign DP0SNX will be transmitted via VHF on 145.840 MHz every 30 seconds.
We will activate our UHF downlink at 437.025 MHz during the first pass over our ground station in WĆ¼rzburg.
Further information on our TM format can be found on our website (Information for Radio Amateurs).

Hi @rftuniwue and welcome!

Thanks for the update and good luck on your mission! Feel free to join also our chat channel where we are going to be active for this launch.

Iā€™m currently adding information in DB for the satellite of this launch, Iā€™ll update the entries with the new date in the next hours.

First post updated with the entries in DB and some frequencies. In the next hours TLE will be added in DB and satellites will be available for scheduling in Network.

An initial scheduling for UHF satellites for the first 24h has been done.

To station owners feel free to re-schedule any of them if you want to observe something else and just have in mind that the TLE are preliminary, so donā€™t schedule too far in the future until we have at least the post launch TLE.
