67277 Object AF Lora like signal on 435.840 MHz

Great catch on the LoRa downlink!

I put Object 67277 into GPredict real quick and as luck would have it, the object was passing directly over me. In a panic, I fired up GQRX to get a recording.

First, there are actually TWO 62k5 LoRa signals… the one at 435.840 and another approx. 250k higher. In this post I’m only testing the one on 435.840 (but the LoRa parameters appear to be the same for both).

First, the waterfall (sorry my adjustments were so bad - was in a hurry before LOS)…

… anyway, after calculating the key LoRa parameters, that packet decodes as:

… I feel like I’ve seen other sats with that ‘P22’ in the 130 byte payload, but don’t recall which family they were from. Ring a bell with anyone else?

I’ll ask the tinyGS admin to include this object in that network’s list of signals to monitor; I suspect that someone will recognize that payload size & ASCII pattern so that we can get a heads-up on who the satellite belongs to.

Ok, over time some decodes should start to show up in the tinyGS network for the as-yet-unknown transmitter on 435.840!

High pass over the Eastern U.S. tonight for this 435.840 transmitter, so a lot of stations monitoring. Downlinks are once per minute (plus a second or two) and are NOT all identical.

Vlad (EU1SAT) shared that he had suspicions that this LoRa downlink on 435.840 might be a second transmission from Vladivostok-2 (https://tinygs.com/satellite/Vladivostok-2), but was not positive. This payload on 435.840 is quite different from what is coming down up around 436.100, so I guess it’s still an open question for now.
