Probably due to this like it had before? Blue probably because the Earth night glow? ![]()
Tonight’s pass over the U.S. was -NOT- on the SSDV schedule, but I tracked it for practice.
Glad I did! Looked like SSDV but then a packet is a packet. On replay/decode, turned out to be all kinds of non-SSDV frames; many included ASCII to make it more interesting!
More SSDV events have been scheduled for January 25 and 26 UTC:
Caribbean, Central America, north coast of South America, southeast United States (Alabama, Florida, Georgia):
- 2026-01-25 16:23:00 UTC
Central East Coast of the United States:
- 2026-01-25 17:57:24 UTC
- 2026-01-25 19:34:11 UTC
- 2026-01-25 21:12:03 UTC
- 2026-01-25 22:48:58 UTC
- 2026-01-26 00:24:57 UTC
- 2026 01 26 02:01:28 UTC

This is a tweet attempt from the satellite. Unfortunately the tweet did not complete before the pass ended.
1857utc pass was a bit weak here at 46° max elevation, but got a few decodes anyway. No SSDV frames, however.
Don’t recall seeing the
!"#$%&'()*+,-./01234567
sequence in these decodes before; has that always been there?
look like this another data
seeing this too in this obs
btw i update the rx.py script here so can show and collect other non ssdv data. auto save as .txt and .bin data.
add -v or --verbose for optional print hex and text data on screen.
beautiful data
Something unintended, this script has now become supportive for all kinds of AX.25 decoding from Direwolf. Any satellites using AX.25 can be supported. ![]()
