New users welcome

Hi all,
I am the chief engineer at the ASU cubesat lab. I have 30+ years experience with small satellite building, but not so much with the ground stations. Satnogs was very helpful with our most recent spacecraft, “Lightcube”. We are re-instaling our Satnogs groundstation on campus and I am building a second one at my home. I look forward to getting to know you guys and learn about what you’ve developed.

Afternoon, John Ronan, EI7IG, dabbled in VHF/UHF/WXsats for a number of years, finally have a SatNogs gateway set up with two eggbeaters where I work in the Walton Institute, South East Technological University (SETU). I’m slowly working on getting a second setup going with a pair of VHF/UHF Crossed Yagis and a Rotator.

Hi everyone,

I am Imants Tukleris, a licensed radio amateur from Latvia and my station is 3336-YL3CT.
I use an 8-element Yagi antenna for 400-406 MHz. The antenna is installed stationary with Azimuth 60 degrees and Elevation 30 degrees. Please take this into account when making observations with my station. The antenna rotator is almost finished, the Crossed Yagi antennas still need to be built.

Hello !
I am Adrien, part of the EPFL Spacecraft Team. I just added our motorised UHF antenna (Plutosdr + Yaesu 5500 + Yagi Uda) to the network. Happy to see other people use our station ! (ID 3369)

Impressive setup.

Can you share any other details, antenna brand, cabling maybe a LNA?

Jan PE0SAT

Of course !
For the antenna we have a Yagi Uda 2*16 elements (16.5 dBi, ref XYA043532).
I added an external GPS reference clock for the Pluto as it has an important frequency offset. Between the Pluto and the feed line, I have a 435 Cubesat Filtered Preamp. A Raspberry Pi is in charge of running the SatNOGS client and rotating the Yaesu G-5500 DC via an Arduino.
