HADES-SA (SpinnyONE) (SO-127) Transmissions

Hello Bali,

The SSDV decoder is in this repository: Files · master-f4tnk-v3.1 · f4tnk / gr-satnogs · GitLab . Search for it using the keyword “ssdv”.

Then you need a flowgraph compatible with h=2: generic/fsk.grc · master-f4tnk-v2.2c · f4tnk / satnogs-flowgraphs · GitLab

And a compatible Satnogs client, like this one: satnogsclient · master-f4tnk-v2.1 · f4tnk / satnogs-client-librespace · GitLab

I want to emphasize that this is very experimental and not yet validated, as I haven’t received enough frames for the same image.

It’s not trivial to set up

just update to latest satnogs docker client (satnogs-flowgraphs-2.5.2), no need addon.

SatNOGS Network - Observation 14250720

With the update to satnogs-flowgraphs-2.5.2, my SatNOGS ground station is now able to record audio that can be decoded later. This is a very welcome improvement, as it allows me to conveniently analyze observations made during weekdays and late at night when I am unable to monitor passes in real time.

The image I recovered has an ID of 000. Does this indicate that the image was retransmitted?

i’m wondering why hades-sa signal is not stable as silversat for example. is it caused by the pocket sat tumbling?

On the HADES-SA (SpinnyONE) satellite, SSDV Image ID 0 is a pre-loaded commemorative mission plaque stored in the satellite’s Flash memory. It was designed as a backup image to be transmitted if the digital camera experiences processing issues or fails to capture a new photo.

Hello @PY4ZBZ ,

Thank you. That cleared up my question.

Best regards,

Obviously the preloaded image #000 has been overwritten. Here is the original image as it was received in Greece a few minutes after the deployment of the satellite Transporter-16 Rideshare: VSFB SLC-4E : 2026-03-30 11:02 UTC - #72 by sv2hwm
