SKD Information from @gardens . Use DigiPath = JS1YPT.
Times don’t look good for Europe passes
. Earliest pass for me today looks like 2235utc. Getting earlier each day but still won’t reach these activation windows.
Any chance of Europe activation in the future?
BOTAN’s digipeater works!
And already on at least October 27th.
I’ve updated the NoradID of BOTAN in the Digipeater Dashboard.
BOTAN is acting as a digipeater and transmitting the received packets 3 times. See Observation #12713404 at 7J1AJH.
Thanks for pointing this out.
That’s a really strange behaviour.
Those additional packets are/were not displayed because the query of the dashboard’s panel says ‘show me packets where the source callsign is not JS1YPT’.
I’ve changed the query to also display those packets and the result is this:
The red marked text is not displayed because it was sent at the same second from and to the same callsigns. In this case Grafana only displays the last packet (here: ‘h’).
If it’s ok for you all, I’ll keep the usual query which is not displaying packets from JS1YPT to keep the panel clear.
Anyway, I don’t understand the sense of this behaviour and why ‘h’.
Thanks to the team for the extended hours - will make EU & NA chasers happy to have the chance to work it. Just need to set a reminder on my phone to be ready for tomorrow’s passes.
Got digipeated by BOTAN at 2025-11-17 16:20:35, worked already at about 10° elevation.
I’ve noticed errors in the 3 times repeated packets:
DL7NDR> JN48AP JS1YPT*: =/5s&?PQ#-y https://dashboard.satnogs.org/d/4JMeIMeIz
was repeated 3 times and one of it was
JS1YPT> APTT4 WIDE1-1 WIDE2-1: >DL7NDR>JN48AP,JSaYPT:=/5s&?PQ#-y https://dasèboard.s±tnogs.org/d/4JMeIMeIz
Hi Daniel
Had my 1st try at BOTAN on 1926+UTC pass over UK.
Heard a couple of packets from you
Fm DL7NDR To JN48AP Via JS1YPT* [19:31:06]
=/5s&?PQ#-yFm JS1YPT To APTT4 Via WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 [19:31:13]
DL7NDR>JN48AP,JS1YPT:=/5s&?PQ#-y
Tried replying but don’t think I got digipeated. First time using UISS and getKissPlus on a new laptop and not sure I have anything set right - getkissplus seemed to say it had forwarded packets to SatNogs but I don’t see them on the dashboard so looks like I need to check my setting against the old laptop. Will try again on passes later in the week
Your upload worked.
There were five packets uploaded between 2025-11-17 19:32:07 and 19:33:56 with your callsign.
The packet from 19:31:06 is not amongst them.
However this type of packet (Via JS1YPT*) would be the only type shown on the dashboard according to my explanation.
Thanks for update Daniel (@DL7NDR).
Looking at UISS log I received a couple more packets. The first from JS1YPT To APTT4 Via WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 at 19:30:45. However I got a warning from my firewall and had to allow getkissplus access so maybe the first submission failed - good to know other uploads worked. Unfortunately I don’t see anything on the dashboard - am I looking at the right thing? I expect to see my callsign at least as an observer of a digipeated message. Where can I check my upload is received? Also I don’t appear on the geomap of receivers.
I also found I have an weird issue with UISS/Soundmodem that explains why my transmissions weren’t picked up / repeated by BOTAN.
I have a [windows] laptop connected via usb cable to a Yaesu TX. Using the same cable, port, drivers etc wsjtx sends & receives FT4/8 OK and fldigi sends & receives cw etc OK. UISS/Soundmodem receives and decodes packets OK however transmit triggers the radio but no sound is transmitted just a carrier. Switching soundmodem output to the speaker produces the audio OK.
At the moment I am totally confused why no sound is produced on the usb output for soundmodem while it is for the other apps. I am also sure I did a basic check pinging my local aprs igate when I installed the software and it worked. Anyway I’ll have a dig about (check old laptop, try other versions of soundmodem or direwolf etc) and hopefully get it working in time for the next BOTAN activation tomorrow evening.
This is the explanation why your callsign doesn’t appear on the dashboard.
Your SoundModem decoded your own uploads and GetKISS+ uploaded it to SatNOGS.
However, as you figured out by yourself, you were never heard by BOTAN.
This is a disadvantage of GetKISS+. It uploads everything, even non AX.25 packets.
To only upload digipeated packets or those from BOTAN, try my gr_satellites uploader.
The dashboard checks for the so called h bit. If it is set (h bit = 1), then your packet was digipeated and will be displayed. All five of your packets has h bit = 0, so the dashboard won’t show them.
I’ve removed the h bit check to be able to take this screenshot.
Interestingly, you’ve uploaded only transmitted no received packets.
Good luck with your TX problem.
@DL7NDR Thanks for clarification.
Think I’ve found the TX issue - a tick box on the soundmodem soundcard setting tab had managed to get upticked somehow. Probably fat fingers on my part. Just sent a standard aprs position message that seems to have been received by a local(ish) station and my position appeared on the aprs.fi map. Hopefully all good now.
I’ll given BOTAN another go on the next suitable activation pass.
Nothing heard on 1734UTC pass over UK either. Hopefully they will get it back on for the next activation on 21st.
