UMKA-1 telescope satellite mission

Not max. It started at 6°. Cant remember the max elevation.

As with anything vertical, this antenna has issues when the pass is very high. Anything over 60ish° and you are getting dropouts. Considering my QTH (apartment block) and how discreet this thing is, it suits me fine.

Everything else is done with GP`s and dipoles terminated with BNC so i can swap them out as i need them.

No neighbors have complained yet, and i like to keep it that way.

good information. thank you!

On October 3rd, at 00:01 UTC, a short quest will begin in honor of the launch of Earth’s first artificial satellite.

:star_struck: UmKA-1 will begin transmitting a special ASCII code. Enter it into a Telegram bot to receive detailed instructions (a link to the bot will be added on October 2nd).

:locked_with_key: On October 4th, an image containing the key will begin broadcasting to complete the quest.

The quest is simple, but it will require some perseverance and attention. Tune in, catch the signal, and become part of the space game! :milky_way:

nice game.

Sounds interesting! What is the format of this transmission?

Greetings!
Starting October 3rd at 00:01 UTC, a quest will be running from the UMKA satellite. This is a combined quest. First, you need to obtain the code in the satellite packets (in ASCII). It’s not difficult. Similar events occurred in the “Space Race,” “The Big Quest,” and numerous local events.
This code, received from the satellite, must be entered into the Telegram bot. A message will appear. Then, according to the instructions, you need to search for signals from UMKA-1 again.
The quest table uses Cyrillic (А Б В Г …). The essence is not important. We could use Latin, hieroglyphs, or other symbols with equal success.

The quest will last until October 5th. After that, there will be other events, which I will tell you more about later. If you have any difficulties or questions, please let me know. I will try to respond as soon as possible.

Thank you. 73!

Hi Aleksey,

I’ve received the ASCII code.
However I’m not registered to telegram and I won’t do that either.
Is there another way to get the instructions from this bot?

The code is:

Got also the other image at 07:54 UTC.

Looking at the two images and the table below it’s pretty obvious what to do.

:rocket: The World Space Week Mini-Quest is complete!

Anyone who decoded the message and filled in the blocks (even with errors) can email their results, along with their last name and first name (and, optionally, call sign), to umka1@school29.com with the subject line “QUEST.”

:snail: Electronic certificates will be sent to all participants by the end of October.
