I moved my ground station to a different location and would like to trigger an observation so I can see if the antenna is working. I can’t seem to task my ground station. Please forgive me if I have not included enough information here. I am a newbie and will happily supply more if requested.
Hi,
from your link I went to “Future passes” and was able to schedule 2 passes if I respected the “to be at least 5 minutes in the future” time setting.
So now I choose 2 satellites with a lot of green observations , random , which should be ran in about half an hour from now. 19:46 UTC over here ![]()
Thank you so much!
If you check the “metadata” tab you notice the gain is not set ?
-
gain-mode: “Overall”,
-
gain: null,
-
antenna: “RX”,
Fixed the gain in satnog-setup and watching for it to be updated here, in the UI, but where? I can’t seem to find anything on the site to confirm the setting myself.
I have moved my ground station to (what I think is) a prime location on Hilton Head Island. I set the gain to 32.8 as a first attempt/baseline.

No matter what I set the Start Time/End Time to I always get “Start datetime should be in the future”.

Hi
I go to this page:
I select “Future Passes”
I wait a bit for the calculations
I scroll down to find something in the future, anything from 15 minutes from now should work, and I select some satellites with lot of green in the bar, that shows they have been received a lot
scrolling down shows me there is free time from 16:42 UTC
So I decide to pich Formosat and Ernst
which scheduled succesfully.
Does that make things clear ?
Regards,
Ben
You should redo that
It’s set to 3.28 instead of 32.8 so no signals in waterfall yet
Ugh. I will get better at this. ![]()
Thank you for the detailed response on scheduling also. I was able to fix the gain and schedule observations.
The easiest solutions to help others is with the fails I made myself when starting. ![]()
