Thank you for TLE update  .Beacon signal of Connecta T1.2 is silenced for 12 hours on purpose. It is part of our LEOP Phase. If you cannot see our signal until 19.00 UTC, you do not need to worry. Your SATNOGS station is OK.

FYI, that last TLE estimate for BDSAT-2 was still pretty accurate as of 0200 utc on 10-Jan-2023.

I was trying the 70cm 9k6 APRS digipeater with no luck, but SP5LOT had already found success, so his call is listed in the telemetry. Will keep trying!

Hello,

just to be clear. BDSat-2 do not use APRS. It uses AX.25 with G3RUH scrambling.

Digipeater on BDSat-2 is always active both on 70cm and 2m bands. However the TRX module on the satellite has to be in RX mode so digipeater on 70cm is unavailable while the TRX is transmitting.

Satellite accepts and resends all packets with OK0BDT calssign and dest. SSID 0.

Example of acceptable AX25 packet:

0x9E 0x96 0x60 0x84 0x88 0xA8 0xE0 0x9E 0x9A 0x66 0x96 0xA6 0x92 0x61 0x03 0xF0 0x55 0x48 0x46 0x20 0x64 0x69 0x67 0x69 0x70 0x65 0x61 0x74 0x65 0x72 0x20 0x74 0x65 0x73 0x74 0x20 0x3A 0x29

Satellite then resends OM3KSI to CQ via OK0BDT.

73!

I guess we knew that it would take a while to any official TLEs to show up. But finally, they’re here.

The TLE sets from spacetrack are still in TBA status and there are ~52 missing ones, so we will need to wait for any identification:

@somecheese of the BDSAT-2 satellite team and I had scheduled 4 CW passes over my location. They programmed the satellite to start transmitting CW signals, and I had setup STRF to gather doppler data.

Space-Track has also released 30 TLEs of the 82 we are expecting. First of all, I ran an identification of the measured data against these (actually all) TLEs and find the best one. Which is 55038, BUT the RMS error is larger then it should be. The RMS error is 108 Hz, and if I fit MA and MM it drops down to 22 Hz, therefore I conclude that BDSAT-2 is NOT 55038, but probably one of the missing TLEs.

Comparing the last pass with the previous TLE I had posted (Not the intermediate one that @fredy posted) shows that the TLE got slightly off:

Usually it is a matter of fitting MA and MM on all data and we have new TLE, but now it gave a RMS error of 107 Hz. The data is of high quality, I had expected a lower error. Earlier I had problems with the dragterm B*, I added that in the fit, but it didn’t change anything. Next I also fitted RAAN and B*, and now the error for all data dropped to 22Hz. That looks more like it! The dragterm doubled to 0.5e-3 and that is closer to what I earlier copied from BDSAT, the previous sat:

For Satnogs to accept a new TLE the epoch value has to be newer then the existing TLEs. Therefor the TLE needs to be propagated, but this causes all parameters to change and give a bad fit again. Fitting again resulted in:

The TLE:

Thanks @EelkeVisser and @cgbsat both ION and BDSAT-2 have been updated with the new TLE sets.

Due to @EelkeVisser analysis I’ve removed to follow 55038 object for BDSAT-2 for now, we will keep watching and analyzing.

Dear All,

We are very excited to announce the deployment of TAUSAT-2 from the D-orbit ION SCV-008 FIERCE FRANCISCUS last Friday. Currently, it sends beacons every 20 seconds.

Can you please add us to the Satnogs DB?

More details can be found in this link:

Thank you,
Dolev Bashi

@dolevbas do you have any preliminary TLE set to follow?

Satellite is added with the temporary NORAD ID 99205. The transmitter is also added but as non-coordinated by IARU as I can not find and entry in IARU Sat Coordinator. If I missed something let me know.

What is the S-Band frequency & bandwidth?

What modulation will be used initially?

Thanks!

Hi Fredy,

We currently use the ION’s TLE: SatNOGS DB - ION SCV-008
