Hello!

FYI for anyone scanning a range of spectrum as we often do after a deployment of multiple cubesats, I thought I would share what you’ll see from those CSTP sats (‘if’ they use the same LoRa parameters that all the other CSTP satellites have used to-date).

It’s a 62.5k wide signal that does persist longer than your average quick FSK or BPSK burst:

… and if you inspect the I/Q in Inspectrum, the footprint of a LoRa packet is obvious:

… and even if you simply demod the signal as FM, that LoRa footprint is quite clear given a decent SNR:

… so, while looking for other downlinks, if you see something unusually wide, when this deployment is overhead, it could be one of the new CSTP sats.

I’m just realizing that there are no frequencies listed for the CSTP 4.x satellites in this thread nor anywhere that I can find online.

So, even though we don’t know if these 4 will have the 62.5k bandwidth packets that the other CSTP’s use, if anyone spots extra-wide packets while these objects are passing over, please share the freq (and an I/Q if possible).

Thanks!

Until now there are some signals for Geoscan-3, Geoscan-4 and InnoSat16, but we will need more observations to verify them.

Well, sometimes even doing stupid things can be useful. It was only a 20° pass, but there’s always a chance. Sure enough, on the 0934utc pass over the U.S., I spotted some wide signals between 436 MHz & 438 Mhz.

… On closer inspection, the higher freq. packets were inverted 500k LoRa and the lower freq. packets were non-inverted 125k.

So, when it’s not the middle of the night here I’ll calculate the parameters and be ready to hopefully see them again on a much higher pass here later today.

Of course in that much spectrum, they could easily be from other objects (not on this deployment). Sure would be nice if there is some ASCII in the decoded frames; should know more later today!

9K6 Geoscan frame RX. From wide band IQ replay centered on 436.160 MHz (was looking for GEOSCAN-2). Based on frequency offset of signal (-224.7KHz), appears to be GEOSCAN-1.

Good hunting all,
