So, I built a SatNOGS 3.1 rotator. Below are the specifics and the issue I’m having. Hope someone can help.
V3.1
Stepper version
Yes endstops
No encoders
ARDUINO mega 2560/CNC shield
Can’t remember the driver model
Not setting this one up to be on the SataNOGS network but instead for my own use for amateur satellite work.
I’m using the firmware listed in the links for the CNC shield version.
The rotator works well when used via USB with HRD Sat Tracker and built in rotator control using easycomm2 settings. Also works well plugged into my Raspberry Pi via USB and running rotctl with easycomm2/3 settings and manually telling the rotator to move to specific points. The issue I am having is with Gpredict and ROTCTLD. ROTCTLD connects fine using the same settings as rotctl when I use Gpredict to tell the rotator to move, it has many errors showing on the CLI on the AZ axis and the EL axis moves fine. When the AZ axis errors out it also seems like it attempts to move and fails. I feel like this is an issue within Gpredict but it has worked well with another rotator I have built and uses a similar interface and uses ROTCTLD with the gs232a protocol.
Please ask me to better explain something?!?! I know it can all get sideways in a hurry.
Thanks,
