Satellite Observation In Texas USA

Greetings from Spring, Texas. I am an enthusiast when it comes to receiving SSTV images (I haven’t done any testing with SSDV yet). I would like to know which satellites with these capabilities (SSTV / SSDV) pass over my location (Spring, Texas, USA)? Thanks in advance.

Hello callezulia,

welcome in the community!

To calculate, which satellites pass over your location is a rather easy problem. You can get those from different sources, e.g. the satnogs-network scheduler tab, https://www.heavens-above.com/ or gpredict.

Most of that ways depend on that you know in advance, what the capabilities of the object are (wether it can send SSTV or not). I currently know no good way, to filter for that in satnogs-db, so you would need to rely on research here.

A good start might be the ISS, doing SSTV campaigns regularly and NG-23 SilverSat (SSDV). Besides that, there are also some Russian satellites doing SSTV.

Mostly, someone in this community will start a thread, once a new SSTV campaign was announced somewhere. So monitoring here might be the way to go.

Welcome.

Please check AMSAT OSCAR Satellite Status for SSTV and SSDV satellites.
Except for IO-86 they will all pass over your location.

You may also do a lookup for “SSTV” and “SSDV” on this forum.
