Hi all,
I am a graduate student working in spaceflight operations at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado, Boulder (CU). I work with the SmallSat Operations (SMOPS) team.
I am reaching out because one of our new CubeSats CANVAS (Climatology of Anthropogenic and Natural VLF wave Activity in Space), not to be confused with very recently launched COSMO :). CANVAS is a 3U CubeSat that will measure Very Low Frequency (VLF) waves that occur from lightning flashes or other electromagnetic pulse events. CANVAS will help us better understand the magnetosphere and ionosphere. More information here: CANVAS
CANVAS will be launching NET April 7th (source). I would like to request that CANVAS is added to the SatNOGs db. I will make the ‘suggestion’ to add it, but this thread can also act as miscellaneous CANVAS coordination.
I am actively working on a katai telemetry decoder and grafana dashboard for CANVAS.
Thank you all so much for your help with COSMO over the past week. Members of the community helped me debug my decoders, helped me build the dashboard, and collected a number of frames. Those are proving to be incredibly useful during commissioning. You all are the best!
