Rasperri pi module for internet connection

Hello everyone,

I’ve a question.
I’m trying to have a rasperri pi ground station that interface to satnogs, but trying to connect the station through cellular/4G line instead of ethernet.
Are there any rasperri pi modules that can use a sim card to connect to the network?
Someone ever tried? is it easy to setup?

Sorry for the dumb question!

Have a look at this page Using 4G LTE wireless modems on a Raspberry Pi.

Just my five cents on the subject, after getting such a setup online might be pretty straight forward. Keeping it online and managing all the connectivity issues automatically can be pretty hard. If it’s on a remote location, it’s pretty frustrating to have to travel to get it online every once in a while.

For this reason, I lean toward using a cots 4g router and hooking that one up via ethernet cable.

edit: I used huawei 4g usb dongle back in the day, either directly to the rpi or to a router with usb and openwrt.

Yeah definitely not planning to put in a remote region. Especially because remote in my place means lots of mountains.
However, at the moment everything is on my balcony at the 3rd floor and I lose practically all the east passes (almost 180deg of azimuth.)
So I want to bring everything up to the roof of the building, but up there I cannot bring any ethernet cable and I doubt my wifi reaches the 6th floor.

Thanks for the feedback!
