PARUS-T1 Cubesat Mission

2025-01-15 02:17UTC

Strong signals were received from the PARUS-T1 on its first pass over Brazil !!!

In total I received 8 packets in AFSK 1k2 (Disregard the time shown on the SoundModem as I decoded the packets after the satellite pass).

(The first packet was received at 02:22UTC)

Great to see that the 2-meter side of PARUS-T1 is working well also. Had found good decodes on 145.825 from earlier SatNogs observations, but always nice to see for yourself! Can anyone confirm the correct Digipeater Path to use when it’s enabled for 2-way traffic? (for example, “CQ via ARISS”… “CQ via BN0TIT”… something else?)

The Digipeater function can service for any kind of APRS AX.25 protocol, no need to special setup path to PARUS-T1.
It transmit any message once AX.25 packet received.

Thanks very much for the info!

Is the 145.825 digipeater enabled yet?

It is already on duty for global service 24hr /7d.
Welcome for any application or education.

Hi Randson,

Do you mean by the above sentence that you don’t have to use a via callsign for digipeating?
And if someone used a via callsign anyway? Will the packet get digipeated?

Yesterday, I accidentally used a different one, not BN0TIT, and got no response. So I’m now not sure if it’s due to the wrong one or if PARUS-T1 just didn’t hear me.

Your answer to this question is important for the decoder.

Will try again today on 10:52 pass.

Could you provide a record from a digipeated packet?

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Yes, the digipeater works like a general APRS station on the ground; you don’t need to set up “via BN0TIT.” It also supports WIDE2-2. Let’s try testing it on more days to figure out why you didn’t get a digipeater response. It’s possible there were temporary issues with the satellite’s reception or other factors. Consistent testing will help isolate the problem.

So…Do you think is Digipeater also workable on UHF?
Hi hi…

I tried again on pass 10:52 UTC, almost zenith.
1x telemetry on UHF, no response on VHF for no via, via BN0TIT, via BN0TIT-11, via WIDE1-1.
I indeed tried it also on UHF, but also no response there.

I listened on that pass too. Didn’t hear anything on vhf. Heard a couple of tlm bleeps on uhf but not good enough to get a decode.

21:35 UTC zenith pass: no sigs on VHF and UHF.

Good copy of PARUS-T1 at 23:15UTC in 436.850 in Madrid,Spain. Orbit #019. Frames uploaded into Satnogs

Strong signals over India. Will try digipeating during next pass.

Hi Ranson,

I worked on it again and finally built a decoder.
During testing, I confirmed my previous observation: the provided audio file produces a packet that exactly matches the telemetry definition provided on January 10th.
So the decoder works on these packets.

However, for example, the EPS-01 packet currently being transmitted by PARUS-T1 is 8 bytes longer compared to the one from your audio file.

Therefore, I need the actual telemetry definition which fits the from PARUS-T1 transmitted packets in its length to be able to adjust the decoder and put it online.

Could you please show a simple example about how to use any terminal program for digipeating through your satellite ?

Using UISS program… What we have to put in the “TO” field? And in the “VIA” field? Should we send “Text/Data”, “Position” or “Message” frames?

Thanks
