Regarding Observation 8646923 …

Hi All

Looks like I got a successful decode from EIRSAT1. I have HEX data - what the best way to confirm its EIRSAT? Secondly, there is no visible signal in the waterfall, I’ve noted this with other observations - is this a normal occurrence? Apologies for the basic questions - I’m pretty inexperienced in this stuff?

Hi @ei9hab and welcome in the community!

Unfortunately what you got as data, it is what we name a noise frame. Sometimes due to the parameters of the decoder/demodulator, noise passes some tests and it is interpreted as a frame.

This can be also confirmed by not seeing any signal on the waterfall as you mentioned.

Also you can check other observations with data to find out how the frame should look like, for example this one SatNOGS Network - Observation 8651201.
