Observation 5366779: RANGE B (43773)

Regarding Observation 5366779

Why is it that I see that some people signal is going straight down the center of the waterfall, and mine seems to curve ?? Thanks…John

In this case the signal doesn’t belong to the satellite but it is a terrestrial one. During the pass client performs doppler shift correction. So, a terrestrial signal at a specific frequency it will show up as a curved line.

Other cases of curved signals are:

  1. Other satellites at the same or near frequency that have different orbit, so also different doppler shift
  2. The satellite that is observed when we don’t have good TLE sets that are used for the doppler shift correction. This happens usually on newly deployed satellites.
