Observation 15057612: METEOR M2-4 with Nighvision & Fire Detector for NOOBS

interesting, i notice meteor m2 imagery now visible for night too.. observation #15057612

dark mean hot. fire and water will show as black dot / black color. water is hotter than land at night, as it takes a lot of energy to cool water, compared less to cool land.

zoom in:
this is lake

this is sea

and this is fire hazard

Autumnal Equinox Ch 4 has been turned on

what it mean?

Meteor 2-3 or 2-4 have VIS and IR channels. Ch 1 to Ch 3 will be switched on from March to September (Only Visual Channels) during Vernal Equinox (Spring Equinox) since northern hemisphere has more day light

Ch 1, Ch 2 and Ch 4 will be on from September to March (2 VIS and 1 IR) Autumnal Equinox (Fall Equinox) giving night vision northern hemisphere has less day light

This equinox phenomenon can be seen on Geostationary satellites.

Yes. Thermal IR band hence good for fires. Also sea surface temperature.

It is unfortunate that, since LRPT currently does not include analog telemetry containing calibration data, composites containing quantitative temperature data using cch4 are not available.

SatDump Log for Observation #15077437 :

[12:52:08 - 28/09/2026] (W) Analog telemetry missing from transmission. Calibration is disabled!

[12:52:44 - 28/09/2026] (D) Skipping 3.9 µm Shortwave IR (Calibrated) as it can’t be made!
