Observation 11924061: METEOR M-2 (40069)

Regarding Observation 11924061

Hello all! I’m new to satellite observations and eager to learn. I’m leaning towards the waterfall here being ground noise with no satellite observed but would like to get a second opinion.

Thank you!

Hi, and welcome,
looking at the observation metadata, the gain (SATNOGS_RF_GAIN) is not set.
This means that the sdr will be pretty insensitive to the incoming signals, setting it to something like 20-30 to start with would be more sensible.
More info on the wiki.

Awesome, will look at playing with gain today and go down that research path in-depth.

Thank you so much!

Also the frequency is 137.900. You should get a nice fat 50-100 kHz band showing up fairly early into the pass. Good luck!

Edit: Sorry were you looking for Meteor M2-3 or M2-4? There have not been any observations recorded for M-2 for a long time - I thought it was dead.
