Observation 11429462: CSO 2 (47305)

Regarding Observation 11429462

I’m not sure… is it considered good? (sorry I’m new)

Should be vertical at 0 kHz, if TLE are correct.

See THIS observation made at my station a few hours ago (A GOOD observation)

Notice that the satellite signal should always be centered at 0Khz (in the middle of the cascade). The SatNOGS station performs automatic Doppler correction and therefore we should not notice Doppler shifts in our observations (There are specific cases where this shift can happen)

For me the observation you mention in the first comment is BAD (That signal must be some interference coming from the ground)

Thanks for the feedback. I’m actually just started today, and I need to understand several details.
My observations now are indeed all drifted. I thought indeed that the doppler effect is compensated by the satnog_client but at this point not sure that is working correctly my station.
Any suggestion on how to check?
ps. it’s adipole fixed antenna no -rotor.

My suggestion is:

Program your station to observe satellites that are ACTUALLY transmitting

The KINEIS satellites are very good for testing stations

I did have test with straight signals.

I just saw as well users that defined not straight signal as “good” so I asked for opinion.

This was an example of my compensation of the doppler effect.

unfortunately was not the best pass. but the doppler effect was compensated at least…

but in this other one; it seems not always straight.
SatNOGS Network - Observation 11429441
or probably not the right observation - as you suggest

SatNOGS Network - Observation 11428774
Good observation (The satellite signal was there and as you can see it is always in the middle of the waterfall)

SatNOGS Network - Observation 11429441
Bad observation (This signal is not coming from the satellite. It is probably some terrestrial interference that your station received)

Your station is working (The Doppler effect is being corrected). However, keep in mind that the satellites are not always transmitting or your station is not always able to receive the signals coming from the satellites.
