Observation 1102069: OSCAR 7 (7530)

Regarding Observation 1102069 …Is this considered a good observation?

I do not see any evidence of a CW beacon. I think this is “bad”, but I could be missing some very small evidence of the signal.

Thanks for that advice - that helps me in learning how to categorize observations.

You could find more details about vetting at this wiki page.

based on the trajectory of the pass not going overhead i suspect there was very little Doppler correction expected to be required, hence the signals either side of the expected frequency look somewhat vertical…

However a good observation of a CW signal would usually be a near pefect vertical line along the center frequency, which as @K3RLD mentions doesnt appear to be present in the waterfall…

My usual way of trying to eyeball any faint evidence of a signal along the center-line is to scroll down to the bottom of the page, place the cursor over the 0 Khz marker at the start of the waterfall and then scroll back up so the pointer remain on the center-line and provides a visual refernece to look for subtle differences in the signal…

But in almost all cases I have had to resort to this I have subsequently decided there is insufficient signal to consider this good, and thus rated the observation as bad.
