@sv2hwm and to others too, do you see any other signal except CW?

I’m wondering if the FSK etc modes are disabled or maybe only enabled over Japan.

Excellent signal received from the newly launched OrigamiSat-2 during a pass over Brazil :brazil: !!

The MAGNARO-II - Piscis, ARICA-2 and FSI-SAT2 were also successfully received

Only one pass active, so there is room for error.

Looking at the posts here and with a spot-check of the SatNogs observations thus far, it appears that KOSEN-2R has not been heard. Does that sound correct? Has anyone seen anything about its status?

The KOSEN-2R operations team states that the satellite does not use the amateur radio band.
On the other hand, based on the API/A (Advance Publication Information) submitted to the ITU, the downlink frequency can be interpreted as falling within the range of 465.3245 MHz to 465.3955 MHz.

Further careful verification may be required to reconcile these pieces of information.

(KOSEN-2R team’s post)

Using the antenna at the KOSEN-1 satellite ground station, we have just successfully received the beacon signal (CW at 436.830 MHz) from the “ARICA-2 satellite.” Congratulations, Professor Sakamoto! (Since the KOSEN-2R satellite does not use amateur radio frequencies, we will need to verify its signal later.)

(ITU API/A document)

Oh! Well that’s very helpful. Looking at their IARU coordination page, it appeared that after initially being denied, they made changes and ultimately received coordination for 436.750.

https://iaru.amsat-uk.org/formal_detail.php?serialnum=820

If they ultimately used something up at 465 MHz, then that’s worth looking for!

Thanks for the info.

Ok, I thought I had previously checked ITU for info on all these sats, but I must have neglected KOSEN-2R after seeing the IARU coordination.

But sure enough, there is only one downlink freq listed:

… and that 71 kHz bandwitch sure sounds like it might be 62k5 LoRa (+ doppler). So, when the orbit cycles around to be high enough in my sky, I’ll see if there are any signals on 465.36.

Thanks again for replying.

I have recorded a packet of ARICA-2, but have not decoded it, because it looks damaged. The link to the IQ file is attached.

Thanks for sharing your I/Q file. Nothing wrong w/ the file itself; near the beginning there is well-formed data burst.

… but it might be a little weak to decode. I’ve tried several times & no luck yet. Someone w/ more skill in that area might be successful.

Of course there is a lot of CW in the recording as well; I’ve not tried to decode any of that. Just visually looking in Inspectrum, we might need just a little bit more SNR to decode.

Congrats on the reception!
