I’ve added the satellite with the temporary NORAD ID 99053 and set it to follow object 57483.
I’ve also added the S-band transmitter.
Feel free to check the entry and login and suggest any changes for either the satellite or the transmitter.
Unfortunately we don’t have any S-band station to cover this orbit, so it will be impossible to track the satellite. Please if you have any updates for the mission let us know.
While the rest of the objects have got updated TLE sets from space-track.org the last two days, the one we follow for NuLIoN hasn’t got an update for 5 days.
So, here is a new TLE set for NuLIoN based on observations of 2394 - YC7OIZ station:
Thanks for generating the TLE Fredy! It is a little strange that Space-Track have not been generating TLE for NuLIoN. Have you all experienced this before? Separately, I have contacted them about it.
We have seen delays before, no idea about the reason. My guess is too much workload and in this case probably the orbit makes things difficult. I base the latter on the fact that usually satellites get 1 or 2 TLE sets per day and for this launch we see 1 TLE set per two days.
Hello SatNOGS community,
Hope you all are doing well.
Space track seems to have stopped generating new TLEs for NuLIoN, the latest one is almost 3 weeks old. We are still somewhat able to track it but the link quality has degraded to the point where we are only receiving a couple of packets. Would it be possible to seek some assistance in generating a new TLE from the community?
Hi Fredy, Thanks for generating the new TLE, it has worked well for us. Would like to ask how did you manage to also manage to update the epoch time of the TLE?
Exactly! We use the propagate tool from sattools by @cgbsat.
Just in case that is not clear, the process is to fit the existing TLE to the observations data, then propagate the fitted TLE to an epoch near to the data epoch and then re-fit them and generate the final TLE.
Thanks for the explanation of the process! We tried it and noticed that when we used propagate, the eccentricity field became 0.
To be sure of the steps:
We use the existing observations data and use satnogs-waterfall-tabulation-helper.py with rffit to fit the observed data into the TLE.
With the generated TLE from step 1, we use propagate and for -t field, we use a close by time of the observation that we had on satnogs. For eg: SatNOGS Network - Observation 8239908, we use 2023-09-29 03:17:05.
With the new TLE generated in step 2, we run rffit again to fit the observation into the TLE. We use the new TLE by replacing the TLE found inside $SATNOGS_TLE_DIR.
Following the above steps, we can generate TLE with updated epoch however, the eccentricity value would be 0. Is this method correct?
