I’m looking into the history of ground stations in my area. I have been able to search through all the ID numbers listed as online, testing, inactive, and future on the SatNOGS website. However, I’ve noticed that some of the numbers are missing. For example, there is a station 5, 6, 8, 9… but no 7. What is the significance of a missing station number? Specifically, I’m wondering if they could have been active in the past and then deleted… or if they were never active. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Indeed, missing station numbers might indicate deleted stations. A deletion could have been done by the station owner or one of the administrators. There were some erroneous deletions by station owners in the past (the UI didn’t warn as much as was needed to prevent accidents at the beginning), but this was already quite some time ago.
Sincerely, kerel
