Would it be possible to have an option to start monitoring geostationary satellites like QO-100 or GOES or even satellite constellations like GNSS or Iridium while in between schedules, if you have a capable antenna. There already seem to be geostationary satellites within the SatNOGS databse. It’s just an idea I came up with really and I kinda just wanna know if it could be done.
Unfortunately currently is not possible.
The main issue is that for scheduling in Network and performing observations in Client, we use the ephem library that seems to have some issues with the geostationary TLE (infinite loops, wrong “passes” etc).
There is an ongoing development for updating radio and client software that will make easier a more consistent development of both of these components. Unfortunately before finishing this, we can not fix the issues and support the geostationary satellites.

Once those softwares are updated, will it be a possibility and will it be implemented?
Yes, it is in plans to support GEO satellites, however I can not estimate right now how long it will take.
Oh ok then.
