Dear LibreSpace community,
This is my pleasure to announce FOSM-1 designed by an non-profit organisation Fédération Open Space Makers. This is a hamradio spacestation payload that should flight starting Q2 2026. It has received IARU coordination.
The payload embark a camera, a Spino radio board (open source), VHF/UHF antennas, and a WASM engine (open source) so as to make it reconfigurable. It means that not only will it send Spino frames (similarly as InspireSat-7) but also experimental frames or, hopefully, adaptation of known protocols like cats or M17.
More information will be shared soon on our web page. One can watch my presentation at Amsat-F 2025 in French.
I just suggested it as a new satellite : SatNOGS DB - Suggestion for Satellite None - FOSM-1
From a modulation perspective, It will support the following:
- 2k4 2FSK (435.200 MHz): FSK
- 9k6 2FSK (435.200 MHz): FSK modulation
- 4k8 4FSK (435.200 MHz): 4-GFSK 9600bit/s modulation
In addition to Spino framing, FOSM-1 will also use some experimental transports and framing. In any case, preamble will always be 0b10101010 (0xaa) and of length 16. The maximum payload size should be 240 bytes.
