Firefly Alpha Launch - "To The Black" - 2022-10-01 07:01 UTC

Scheduling for first 24h is done. We have ~140 observations for each satellite scheduled.

To station owners have in mind not scheduling too far in the future as these preliminary TLE sets may change a lot.

Payloads deployed according to firefly, waiting for reception from Network:

From the first orbit data we have from firefly it looks that the preliminary TLE are quite good so we will keep them for now.

QUBIK-3 and QUBIK-4 are alive!!!

By the way alive QUBIKs means also that the open source deployer PICOBUS by LSF performed well!

Updated TLE sets but we are going to generate in the next minutes even better ones:

More accurate TLE set, still not perfect but better than the previous ones:

I’ve removed my scheduled observations for the next 24h as the TLE have significantly changed and scheduled for the next 12h with the new TLE.

To station owners… if you have scheduled observations for satellites of this launch check them to see if the plot is still relevant and re-schedule (remove and schedule again) if the pass is too off.

A new TLE set in “TO BE ASSIGNED” status is published by space-track.org.

We are going to follow this object for the satellites for now until we have any additional information:

Scheduling for the next 24h is done.

Has anything been heard from the satellites (that we have freqs for) OTHER THAN the QUBIK pair?

I’ve been watching online but have only seen confirmed reports from those two.

Thanks!

Unfortunately nothing heard from the rest of the satellites. Also from the latest observations the TLE are too off… we are going to generate new tomorrow. But probably it will need to generate TLE sets pretty often as they are getting old easily.

Not getting any decode with any of my normal 9k6 tools using the I/Q from EU1SAT from the QUBIK sats:

https://twitter.com/EU1SAT/status/1576380682674110464

… should these be standard FM-demod 9600 GMSK or something else?

Thanks!

Those packets are CCSDS Space Packets with FEC, GFSK or BPSK with residual carrier. You can use the GNURadio Flowgraphs provided in the QUBIK gitlab repo, located in the test/ folder.

New TLE sets from space-track.org, 5 in total while we have at least 7 satellites + the rocket, so we expect more to come:

From these QUBIK 3 and 4 fit better 53958, with 53956 be also close but probably describes the other LANE of PICOBUS which hosted GENESIS G and J and FOSSASAT-1B.

So, for now I’ve changed in DB and Network the TLE we follow as described bellow:

QUBIK 3, 4 → OBJECT D 53958
GENESIS G, J and FOSSASAT-1B → OBJECT B 53956 (guess)
SERENITY → OBJECT C 53957 (guess)

To station owners, TLE sets have been changed a lot again, if you have scheduled on your station these satellites, please re-check and re-schedule if necessary.

PS I’m going to re-schedule in the next couple of minutes the observations I’ve scheduled yesterday.

Re-scheduling for the next 24h is done. Some info about it:

For passes over 30 degrees we have ~25 observations for each satellite
For passes from 10 to 30 degrees we have ~50 observations for each satellite

FOSSASat-1B Heard a couple times over TinyGS and shows good SNR, however indeed satnogs has not picked up the Morse beacon. tinygs-webapp
