Can you measure signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) with gr-satnogs?

I’m building a small satnogs station with my research lab, and I want to characterize it in comparison to other stations with respect to the SNR. Is there a way to automatically output the SNR in gnu radio with the satnogs client?

Good question,

I will also have a look at this, starting with collecting some IQ data generated by my ground stations.

My first attempt will be by replaying the files to see with data is there.

Maybe it would be useful for the network to store a metadata field for snr for all observations? That would allow large-scale evaluation of different antennas and locations.

But I’m not sure if it is possible to decide on a common snr definition since snr varies with the type if signal, and changes during the length of an observation.

For a quantitative assessment of stations, antennas, local noise, this would be a great feature.
