Beginner to SATNOG community a simple way for students to build Satnogs rotator controller or able to buy pre-made one

Hello All,
I tried to build Satnogs rotator controller V2 with all the components, but proved to tricky soldering on for my 17 year old students. They ended up giving up, is it possible to buy the Satnogs rotator controller V2 controller with all the components already connected to the PCB board?
Also is there a link to build guide to the V1, since looks much more simpler to build. is version one still supported?

Thanks

Hi Gurmeet,
If you planned to use stepper motor, I suggest to have a look at CNC Shield V3. I use the shield V3 as an alternative to the SatNOGS rotator controller (was recommended by my friend who also built a SatNOGS rotator). It might not have the protection as good as the SatNOGS rotator controller but it much much simpler to a beginner like me, and really cheap too. I paired it with Arduino UNO and use jumper cable so the 12V can power both the Arduino and stepper driver.

Looking forward to your build!

Hello. Awesome work you have here. Please I’d really like to replicate your work on the rotator controller instead of the original satNOGS controller on the wiki because I also find it very confusing.
Would it be possible to get a more comprehensive guide to follow?
How exactly should the wiring to the raspberry pi, antennas etc. be done and what other components do I need to get.
Thank you

Hey, feel free to visit my thread here. I’m not an expert at this but I will happily help you :).

I’m using Arduino with CNC V3 shield for the controller instead of SatNOGS controller as it is readily available and cheaper.

For now I’m using my SatNOGS station and rotator separately, but I wish to integrate both, we might learn together how to do it hopefully!

And for antenna I’m using homebrew VHF QFH (recommended!) with repurposed old Raspberry Pi 3B+ that I owned from college days lol. The SatNOGS rotator wiki is a great way to start. Feel free to discuss

btw I laughed a lot by your Inosuke profile picture :joy:

By the way, I completely forgot that there’s a complete documentation with that setup here:
