The Brazilian Naval School was founded n 1792 in Rio de Janeiro for use by the Brazilian Navy. The Royal Academy of Midshipmen was created in 1792 as a university-level academy. The Brazilian Imperial Academy of Midshipmen became the School of Navy in 1858. In 1887, it became the Naval School. The Naval School is a higher education military academy which aims to train officers for the Brazilian Navy. It is located on Villegagnon Island, just inside Guanabara Bay. The main objective is to graduate marines, logistics and fleet officers in five years. In the last year, they have had an instruction trip on the training ship “Brasil”, around the world.
