I’m a technical mentor for the RamSat project. Our technical mission is to observe the regrowth of forest recovering from fire, using small cameras on a 2U cubesat in low Earth orbit. Our broader mission is to provide a unique educational experience for middle-schoolers interested in STEM fields. The project was conceived by students at Robertsville Middle School, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA. Students have built and tested the spacecraft. Now the students are learning to download and analyze data. SatNOGS has been very helpful in allowing us to gather beacon telemetry data from RamSat - thank you! In my day job, I am a climate change researcher working in the Environmental Sciences DIvision at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
