Beacons are 15seconds apart. This observation looks like the right signals:
Iāve scheduled observations for the next 24h and not for 48h as it is expected to update some TLE sets later today.
A kind reminder to station owners that schedule observations, when you scheduling for a satellite in other stations make sure you leave enough free spots for the other satellites transmitting in the same frequency range. You can check the frequencies of the other satellites in the first post table which is ordered by frequency.
3UCubed-A transmits beacons every 60 seconds with housekeeping data in ~6 packets of 137 bytes and an interpacket gap of 500 ms at a frequency of 437.01 MHz. Of the 137 bytes, the first 15 bytes are preamble data that can be ignored; starting at the 16th byte is the start of an AX.25 frame ending at the 97th byte.
A couple of observationsā Observation 12830962, Observation 12830945, and Observation 12830955, show the general ~60 seconds apart beacon structure; however, the signal seems to be too weak to be demodulated.
Any assistance searching for beacons and demodulation is highly appreciated.
I am looking at some SatNOGS observations of 3UCubed-A that have valid decodes. For instance SatNOGS Network - Observation 12831077. The decoded frames contain the AX.25 addresses MBSRC and PHI1, suggesting that these transmissions are from PHI-1 instead of 3UCubed-A. Indeed a comparison with PHI-1 observations (for instance SatNOGS Network - Observation 12830654) shows similar waterfall and frame contents.
Since PHI-1 is observed at 436.850 MHz and 3UCubed-A is observed at 437.010 MHz, which are far enough apart in frequency, the most likely conclusion is that PHI-1 is also transmitting close to 437.010 MHz and showing up in 3UCubed-A observations.

I have been looking at my STRF runs and there I donāt see any signals on 437.010 MHz only 436.850 MHz. It is possible other frequency is used over other parts of the globe.
Here it would be great if we had some confirmation of a team member.

@fredy I can see the update for SPIN-2 with post launch TLEs. Can that be done for OTTER too?
This reminds me of a known issue we had with DhabiSat 49016. It was also seen in observation about 150-186khz higher. You can still see the original transmitters in the Satnogs DB at 436.908Mhz, and the spooky one on 437.094. This frequency difference is about 186 kHz.
We have also see it with AALTO:
And now we see it again. @PE0SAT is confirming that he doesnāt see the signal in strf recordings. I guess the old Satnogs flowgraph is sensitive for frequencies outside the expected window. Because at the same time we see Phi transmitting on the expected frequency:
I guess the problem @EA4GPZ sees is the station, it is running old 1.6 software.
Iāve updated the TLE for all of them we have in DB.
@fredy I see that some satellites like T.microsat have data from the signal without a decoder, what do we need to do for SPiN-2 to get the data also?
From a quick look, Iāll have a better later, it seems that there is a drift on the frequency that SPiN-2 is transmitting, this in combination with the non-accurate TLE and maybe low SNR it can affect if frames will be decoded or not.
Other factors could be the modulation/framing etc that SPiN-2 uses, if it is something custom it will not work.
Anyway Iām going to check later the above and see if we can do something better.
This is complicating receiving data from 3UCubed-A. 3UCubed-A seems to have a weak signal, and the interference from PHI-1 makes it difficult to distinguish the signal.
Given that other observations show signals with a similar frequency error, this problem is most likely an aliasing issue within SatNOGS rather than PHI-1 transmitting at two different frequencies. This aliasing issue sounds similar to Possible aliasing in CW decoder (#239) Ā· Issues Ā· librespacefoundation / SatNOGS / gr-satnogs Ā· GitLab. Probably it is related or even the same problem. In that issue (which is 3 years old by now) I did an in-depth analysis of the code and explained how it should be fixed. My comments were not taken into account. Apparently another fix was merged after two different attempts at a fix which didnāt really solve the problem. Perhaps the final fix that was merged still causes aliasing in some cases. @EelkeVisser are you sure that there is an aliasing bugfix that is not applied to version 1.6? Maybe the latest version has the same problem. The issue Iām referring to was āfixedā in September 2022, but I have no idea of when version 1.6 was released.

No I am not sure. I have been a victim of the bug, so I recognized it. And somehow I havenāt experienced it in the last years. That could be luck, my ignorance or maybe it was fixed! I looked at the 6 observations of 3UCUBED-A with data. They are showing data of PHI-1 and are all on 1.6 software, and even one is 1.1. But I am not sure what/if was fixed in which versions.
