SatNOGS Client on LMDE 7 with Podman

Following up on my fresh installation, I am happy to share that station #4950 is now fully operational using LMDE 7 (Debian 13 “Trixie” base) paired with Podman instead of traditional Docker.

A few quick notes for anyone looking into a similar setup:

  • Containerization: Running via podman compose worked smoothly after enabling the user-level socket (systemctl --user enable --now podman.socket).

  • Hardware: Powered by an NEC PC with an RTL-SDR Blog V4, pulling clean signals under a 50/144/430MHz ground plane antenna.

  • Status: The station is online, quiet, and ready for upcoming passes.

Update:

I thought I had it all working and proudly shared it, but I apologize and must retract that! While I initially thought it was running successfully with Podman, I later ran into a few issues during extended operations and ultimately decided to switch back to traditional Docker.

Everything is running smoothly now on standard Docker. Huge thanks again to everyone for the great support!
