Regarding Observation 14670624 …Hello everyone,

I am a beginner and still learning how to use SatNOGS.

I recently observed PEARL-1A (Observation #14670624), and the data tab shows some AX.25 / ASCII characters like this:

œ † ª Ž | bà Š,¤~,á▷ðg▶◁3b▷◁F◁+ÅS

Could you please tell me if this is just noise, or if it indicates a successfully decoded packet?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help!

PEARL-1A transmits in AX.25, so it’s easy to decide whether your reception is just noise or a successfully decoded packet.

Just click on AX.25 tab.

Thank you very much for your helpful advice! I checked the AX.25 tab as you suggested and successfully confirmed the header (Source: PEARL-1A, Destination: NCUGS1).

I was wondering, do you happen to know how to decode or interpret the payload shown in the “Monitor” field (g▶◁3b▷≦F◁+S)? Is there a specific decoder or telemetry format for PEARL-1A available?

PEARL-1A is a commercial satellite, I don’t know anything about a decoder or information to decode the data.

Anyway, you have to look at the data in hex format. That’s the original format.
Data in the “Monitor” field is an ASCII interpretation of the hex data.
