Although I’m in south Thailand (right next door to Indonesia), no SSTV events include passage over Thailand and Malaysia… just 8 minutes earlier…

I’m sure you’ll be able to receive the SSTV?
FYI IO-86 doesn’t have on board SSTV transmitter so the SSTV will be using it’s usual FM transponder uplinked by an operator at that current event, in this case DIY = Yogyakarta (OI51).
You can use Satmatch to check if it’s within your footprint

I previously received images a few years ago from this satellite - see below. Now I’m in south Thailand - so the satellite elevation gets up to 31 degrees. But according to the broadcast schedule nowadays, the satellite does not transmit images while over Thailand! It passes over Thailand typically 10 minutes before it passes over Indonesia, and only starts transmitting images on the FM transponder after the signal can no longer be received in Thailand!
For example, tomorrow is 9th July. Image transmission is 13:03 - 13:24 local time (same timezone as Thailand). N2YO.com show the same pass over south Thailand between 12:43 - 12:57… before the start of image data transmission

Very nice clean images! Also totally make sense since Aceh Utara (Northern Aceh) basically the westernmost location in Indonesia and much closer to your location.
Yogyakarta is about 4 minutes behind from Aceh. Also btw don’t use ISS detector to track IO-86, I don’t know why but they use TLE from last year and its 10 minutes earlier.
I use Gpredict and update it each day to get accurate TLEs. The only cubesat that I found where the TLEs in Gpredict were wrong was Arcticsat! I had to manually enter the correct TLEs. Anyway, no more Arcticsat now!
But why does Lapan-A2 not start image transmissions when it’s over Aceh…?
SSTV is basically sent from various HAMS in and around Indonesia. The satellite just repeats the SSTV image. Its not like the images are stored in the satellite.

Yes I know that! But the schedule for hams to upload and retransmit images excludes Aceh and Thailand…
Because the one that request the slot was Amateur Radio Club from Yogyakarta (ORDA DIY)
If it’s nation wide event (like what you received a while ago which was Amateur Radio Scout) then it usually will have two or more stations transmitting the images in the West, Middle, and East taking over each other until the very Easternmost area.
Ah! Now I understand! Perhaps ask the guys in Aceh to do some SSTV
